Stimulating Productivity

While working people do a lot of similar actions, repeatedly clicking the same buttons; we constantly write the same sentences, filling in these or those forms.

We asked a small web-design company to record all actions they perform. On looking through these steps we were extremely surprised on how many sample repetitions people do. After analyzing these materials we drew up a conclusion that it took 40% of their time to perform the actions that could have been performed instantly. They had better have some rest during that time instead of 30 times a day getting into the wilds of submenu, using 10 clicks, and changing line thickness, color and type. Moreover, sometimes they made mistakes or were searching for this or that item. Further we were perplexed by the fact that that the designer was creating new files with sizes varying from 230x230 to 400x400 dots. Each time it was necessary to open file creation window, type in the sizes, type of color, dots per inch etc. There were plenty of such examples in every person’s work. All these actions could actually be performed by clicking a button once.
